Q:
What stallions are eligible for nomination?
A: Any stallion of any breed deemed suitable for siring ponies. The
owner or nominator is the one who makes that decision.
Q:
Does the stallion have to be a pony?
A: No. Many successful ponies are sired by stallions over 14.2H.
Larger stallions are invited to nominate.
Q:
Does the stallion have to stand in the USA?
A: No. Nominated stallions may stand in the USA, Canada, Mexico or
even other countries.
Q:
Are all foals eligible?
A: No. Only foals sired by nominated stallions that are foaled in
North America.
Q:
What does it cost to nominate a stallion, and does he need to be
nominated every year?
A: For 2010 only it will cost the nominator a flat $300 for the year,
assuming you have paid in full by the deadline. See the nominating
form for a full description of fees.
Q:
That sounds like a lot of money. Why is it worth it for me to
nominate?
A:
1) In our inaugural year the NAPF awarded over $6000.00 of prize
money. Judging from current interest we expect significantly more for
2010. Though no guarantees can be made, we are aiming for a total
purse of $10,000 for next July. No where else will you find prize
money of this nature for young ponies.
2) It has been proven in all currently examined incentive fund
programs that the prize money creates an active market for nominated
foals. It has also been proven that these foals will often will be
more appealing and sell for significantly more money than those that
are not nominated.
3) Your breeding program will benefit from the NAPF website hits,
your free classifieds on the site, marketing and press coverage that
this futurity will get. There will be coverage in national magazines
and numerous articles, many that will list the nominated stallions.
You will be able to decrease your advertising dollars and increase the
awareness of your stallion.
4) Your stallion will be listed with a photo on our well visited
website with a link to your site. There will be a classified section
for you to list your youngsters that we hope to keep free for all
nominated ponies. You may also list other ponies, merchandise or
services for a small fee.
5)
Our futurity events will be held at the Old Dominion Horse Show, a
USEF “AA” horse show in Virginia in late July with many pony
enthusiasts in attendance. This will be a quality event to showcase
and attract interest in your stock.
6)
In addition to generous prize money there are beautiful awards,
prestigious perpetual trophies, one of which will go to the leading
sire. We hope to have many sponsored awards for 2010.
7) Your stallion will be eligible for the new 2010 Twin Cedars award
of $1000.00 presented to the Grand Champion Sire. There will also be a
$500.00 cash award for the Reserve Grand Champion Sire.

Q: I
had a stallion that is now deceased, but I have straws of frozen semen
to use or sell. Is that stallion also eligible?
A: Yes. Same annual fee.
Q: I
have a stallion that I do not breed to outside mares. At what rate
would he be assessed?
A: $300.00
Q:
Are there discounts for multiple stallions?
A: For 2010 if you nominate 2 stallions the third will be discounted.
Contact us for details.
Q:
If my stallion dies shortly after nomination, do I receive a refund?
A: The simple answer is no. There may be circumstances that the
committee would agree to apply the fee to another of your stallions or
perhaps to your foals, but there are no guarantees of that decision.
